Here’s another clipping from the Hensley Farms archives... Forward into the past 

A kindly nod from the 60s, when I was on the Hoosier jazz planet, and at least one reviewer thought we were pretty good. It nearly convinced me.

I got to play with some real guy along the ways: Lee Konitz, Kenny Dorham, Charlie Mariano…

When I later moved to LA I was advised never to mention any jazz background, because it would keep me out of the rock musician crowd, where the work was. I remember one older sax player stressing the point by assuring me “A good review from Leonard Feather is the kiss of death in this town.”

But when I began doing sessions for Phil Spector, I observed that all the players were stars from the jazz world. I thought I knew stuff, but I knew nothing
